Hawthorn is a member of the Rosaceae (rose!) family that is known for having thorns and offering potent heart medicine. It has caught attention for its cardiotonic effects, improving muscle tone, oxygen uptake, and circulation in the heart. It dilates blood vessels (lowering blood pressure) and allows energy to and from the heart to move more freely. Like many of the rose family plants, it has been used for heartache, grief, and anxiety for centuries. I also find the blend of berries, leaves & flowers helpful for fear and feeling of impending doom. Traditionally a plant of Mars, I consider it a good fit for when there's Mars in excess and also for strengthening Leo energy.
